e-Government case study: the United Kingdom
In the UK, e-government – by which we mean e-services, e-knowledge and e-governance - is central to the government’s modernisation programme. It aims to provide more efficient and effective services to customers, to support and develop the knowledge and service-based economy and to encourage an open relationship between government and citizens. It also aims to bridge the ‘digital divide’ by extending the benefits of the information economy to everyone.
