Website review and high level roadmap
The project issues
Dacorum Borough Council received a C rating in the 2006 Better Connected report. They were also seeking efficiency savings through improvements in service delivery including greater integration of the Council’s website with existing customer service delivery channels. The Council is aware of the significant benefits that can be achieved by providing a fully transactional website, and asked Socitm Consulting to review the present situation and provide recommendations for achieving these goals.
The Socitm Consulting solution
Socitm Consulting undertook a review of the Council’s website. This included a full documentation of the current website, skills set and systems, discussions with appropriate staff on how content is currently maintained, and a review of the Better Connected report and supporting documentation.
The place of the website within wider corporate and strategic priorities was established by meeting with key management and web group stakeholders and clarifying present and future service delivery strategy.
Reports were then prepared and presented documenting the elements of website status according to the Better Connected criteria and a roadmap of how to achieve an improved Better Connected rating with a focus on efficiency improvements in service delivery and potential cost savings.
The benefits to the client
By establishing the position of the Council’s website within its wider strategic and service delivery priorities, providing a clear roadmap of efficiency improvements to the website according to national standards and identifying the dedicated resources needed to achieve this goal, Socitm Consulting was able to assist the Council in developing their online transactional status.
