E-government conference support
The project issues
The Development Academy of the Philippines together with the European Union requested support for their Annual Local Government Conference, ‘LeGoV 05’ (Local eGovernment Ventures). The conference theme was ‘Forging Partnerships in Local eGovernment Ventures through Exemplars, Lessons and Opportunities’. Socitm Consulting was requested to provide input for a thirty minute presentation and a 5000 word paper on e-government implementation including strategies and tools to assist in the process together with examples of good practice. In 2000 the national government passed the E-Commerce Act; this conference, attended by some 300 delegates from over 100 3rd and 4th class municipalities who had a web presence and showed a desire to implement e-government, aimed to encourage and assist them in their implementation.
The Socitm Consulting solution
To produce the appropriate paper based on Socitm good practice using standard strategies as delivered in the United Kingdom. A presentation was prepared and delivered at the conference showing how e-government was and is being implemented in the UK. Individual advice and guidance was imparted to delegates as part of the networking during the course of the conference.
The benefits to the client
The delegates were able to identify with the process that had been ‘proven’ in UK Local Government and were encouraged by the examples and issues that were faced and overcome by colleagues from the other side of the world.
