FOI sanity check and Members briefing
The project issues
Milton Keynes Council (MKC) required a ‘sanity check’ to ensure that their FOI preparations were on course to ensure appropriate readiness for January 2005.
Norma Evans brought us in to assist following her attendance on a Socitm Learning FOI Implementation course.
The Socitm Consulting solution
Based on work with other similar organisations in the sector, MKC's preparation to date was assessed against workable FOI Project Briefs and a number of suggestions were offered, with the consultant taking the role of ‘devil's advocate’.
The benefits to the client
The client was reassured with regard to preparation so far but also galvanised to tackle a couple of specific training and policy areas with more understanding of the issues and implications.
The briefing afforded the Members the opportunity to learn more about the likely impact of FOI. Feedback from the delegates was very positive about the content and quality of this briefing.
