Website staffing structure review
The project issues
The Council had a small team of staff responsible for the design, content and usability of the website. The team structure had not been planned and the Council was concerned it was not appropriate for the website’s future maintenance and development. Socitm Consulting was asked to review the current team structure including staff levels and skills, existing and projected service provision, resource needs and the place of the team within the overall organisation.
The Socitm Consulting solution
Socitm Consulting began the project with a review of current job structures and working practices. This included interviews with key stakeholders and staff and a review of job descriptions, staffing structures and strategy documents.
Detailed and fully costed recommendations were then made for an appropriate staffing and management structure to enable the Council to deliver an effective website. These included job descriptions and an outline of the place of the service in relation to other council services.
The benefits to the client
With expertise in best practice website staffing structures, Socitm Consulting was able to assist the Council in identifying what staffing levels and structure it needed to ensure long term website maintenance and development. By providing detailed recommendations on job roles, budget and staff structure, we helped to ensure the Council re-structured the web service to ensure effective delivery of its e-government programme and online customer service delivery.
