e-Government implementation
The project issues
The Council in developing a programme for the implementation of e-Government and the delivery of Priority Outcomes recognised that in order to implement their programme they would need additional resources. The Council succeeded in obtaining funding from the ODPM via the I&DeA to assist with programme management with the overall objective of ensuring the successful implementation of their action plans.
The Socitm Consulting solution
We worked closely with the e-Government Manager, the IT Manager and relevant service managers to gain understanding of the e-Government programme within the Council and the individual action plans for achieving its objectives.
A review of four specific areas was carried out: Document Management, GIS, Real-Time Booking and Mobile Working. The review included IT support to ensure systems are in place to deliver the technology elements, identified any issues or risks and ensured best practice would be applied.
A review of BVPI157 was also carried out to determine the outstanding requirement.
The benefits to the client
The reviews, containing action plans, enabled the Council to determine and prioritise the implementation of those plans to achieve required e-government priority outcomes and to focus on the issues surrounding the major system implementations.
