ICT management structure review
The project issues
The Head of IT decided that the management structure of the ICT department needed to be reviewed. The structure had been largely unchanged since the Council was formed ten years ago, and with the loss of the internal Housing Service to an ALMO, the department is facing major budget cuts.
The Head of IT commissioned Socitm Consulting to consider the issues, cite modern practice and case studies and make appropriate recommendations for the way forward.
The Socitm Consulting solution
Socitm Consulting analysed the current position by interviewing all the senior management staff in the ICT department. A report was then produced analysing the current situation and suggesting potential changes to the existing ICT structure.
The approach was not to make specific recommendations but to identify options, change influences and opportunities for consideration in the eventual structure.
The results of analysis were then shared by members of the management team who had an opportunity to debate and challenge the suggested changes with our consultant.
The benefits to the client
The client was able to proceed with his preferred structure in the knowledge that a wider perspective had been applied to the local circumstances and his management team had been given the opportunity of contributing to the change process.
