Website review
The project issues
Telford and Wrekin Council was undertaking a re-development of its website and asked Socitm Consulting for advice on a number of issues regarding best practice. These included: homepage design, navigation structure, accessibility and search functionality.
The Socitm Consulting solution
Socitm Consulting analysed the current position by interviewing key stakeholders and staff.
We then provided detailed recommendations for improving website design, navigation and accessibility. These included: new homepage designs, a quality assurance checklist for content management, an A to Z, search engine capabilities to Better Connected standards and an accessibility review.
The responsibilities and timescales for implementing the recommendations were also agreed to provide Council staff with a realistic timetable for implementing the improvements.
The benefits to the client
By providing expert knowledge of website design, navigation and accessibility best practice, Socitm Consulting was able to assist the Council in improving their website to ensure effective online delivery of customer services.
