ICT Learning Strategy

The project issues
The Council recognised that its ICT Learning Strategy needed updating, rationalising and integrating across individual schools and in line with guidance from the Welsh Assembly. Socitm Consulting was asked to facilitate the process of producing a new ICT Learning Strategy with stakeholders from the Council and schools.

The Socitm Consulting solution
We began by producing a scoping study of what an ICT Learning Strategy could include.

This formed the basis for a series of workshops with Council Education and ICT staff and schools Technical and MIS Support staff. Workshop groups were responsible for producing content for the strategy and ensuring that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between the Council and schools and evaluation and review processes were embedded within it.

Socitm Consulting produced the final strategy document which is in the process of being implemented by the Council and individual schools.

The benefits to the client
With independent expertise in ICT in Education and strategy development, we were able to bring together stakeholders, and assist the Council in producing an ICT Learning Strategy understood and supported by all relevant staff. The new strategy has clarified the relationship between the Council and schools over ICT delivery. It is forward-thinking, aimed at the transformational use of ICT in individual schools and has a review and updating process embedded within it. The Council commented that “Peter Hunter demonstrated a clear understanding of the context and associated issues. His approach was calm, confident and personable. He quickly gained the respect of all group members”.
