Merthyr Tydfil Local Service Board (LSB) undertook an ambitious public consultation exercise with the help of Socitm Consulting.

Partnership development
Socitm Consulting has worked with numerous partnerships - many originating in response to the e-government funding initiative, and many of these continuing to grow in strength and scope. But all too often, partnerships exist in little but name, and any attempt to achieve consensus on a way forward is likely to be unsuccessful.
In response to this, Socitm Consulting has developed a range of management tools which help it to assess the state of maturity of partnerships and to highlight the next steps in the development of the partnership.
Joined up health & social services programme management
The project issues
The London Borough of Harrow wanted to develop a means of sharing information between health service providers, including primary care groups, social services and other agencies involved in the provision of such services. At the same time, the project was to provide seamless, standardised and accurate welfare benefits and health advice across both the public and voluntary sectors through the development of a single web-based IT information source.
Partnership and outsourcing
Modern organisations are not constrained in what they choose to deliver or by what can be achieved using internal resources alone. Rather, they look at what the customer wants and then organise its delivery by calling on whatever resources, internal or external, are required.
Whether the challenge is to deliver a service more efficiently or to a higher standard, to achieve economies of scale, to close a skills gap or to introduce change more rapidly than would otherwise be possible, partnership working or outsourcing is often the optimal solution.
