Socitm Consulting helped the London Borough of Sutton (LBS) to transform its Adult and Children’s Social Care IT Service to meet the needs of the Transforming Social Care Agenda.

LBS recognised that to meet these requirements, they needed to ensure that the IT service provided to both Adult and Childen’s Social Care Services was adequate for current and future needs. There was some dissatisfaction with the current system and support and doubt that it would be able to help them meet the agenda.

Capturing the requirements for the new system, articulating and verifying them effectively and writing the procurement specification needed due care and diligence.

Career graded framework review

The London Borough of Waltham Forest now has a clear ICT Career Grade Framework, fully integrated with the existing wider corporate procedures, following a Socitm Consulting review. Our expertise in organisational ICT career structures and pathways enabled us to design an integrated ICT career framework best able to deliver the Council’s ICT strategy and assist in its drive to improve the delivery of customer services whilst encouraging the career development of the ICT staff.

Public internet access infrastructure implementation

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has a robust and secure public internet access infrastructure for its Libraries service following project management support from Socitm Consulting. We developed and implemented an integrated business case for bringing Libraries ICT management in house and rolling out a secure public internet access infrastructure for the service. This enabled the Council to make significant efficiency savings, fund additional ICT resources and implement best practice infrastructure as standard for other Council services providing internet access to customers.

The project issues
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets (LBTH) undertook an OJEC tendering process for the supply of PCs and laptops to refresh their estate of some 4400 PCs, as part of a high profile XP project. Socitm Consulting won a competitive tender to QA the process and ensure the Council followed the correct procedures and achieved best value.

Social Services system implementation review

Revenues and Benefits best practice survey

The London Borough of Merton commissioned us to conduct a market research survey to help them understand how local authorities that perform well in handling Revenues and Benefits achieve this. The survey would gather data concerning the implementation and use of Revenues and Benefits systems and uncover plans, issues and obstacles encountered by UK local authorities in this area.

The survey results would be used to inform discussion within the London Borough of Merton concerning its implementation of Revenues and Benefits software.

EDRM implementation review

The Council was keen to avoid difficulties with the organisation-wide introduction of EDRM as part of its transformation strategy. Socitm Consulting ran a facilitated workshop to identify potential problems and subsequently helped the Council to address them – the most significant requirement being the development of an Information Governance strategy and culture for the organisation. The Council is now adopting the recommendations in order to achieve the desired benefits of more flexible working practices, reduced office space requirements and greater efficiency.
